Project Overview
Sandy Slope Elementary in Appleton organizes classrooms into grade-level pods around shared learning areas, with a gymnasium and central commons. The design incorporates geothermal heating and cooling on a site that also includes environmentally sensitive wetlands.
The Challenge
The design team had to accommodate a geothermal well field within the site’s environmental constraints. Inside, the HVAC application needed to connect that energy strategy to classroom and common-area conditioning, with dependable air delivery across spaces of different sizes and uses.
Masters Solution
Masters supplied a Multistack VME geothermal chiller and Daikin Vision air handling units. The chiller supports the ground-source heating and cooling approach, while the air handlers deliver conditioned air to the school’s occupied spaces. Linking these water-side and airside functions helps translate the geothermal design into practical comfort and ventilation for classrooms, shared learning areas and gathering spaces.
