Project Overview
Aspirus Wausau Hospital’s inpatient expansion adds intermediate-care and observation capacity and provides room for future growth. The work supports greater access to specialized care while connecting new patient spaces with the hospital’s existing services.
The Challenge
An addition to an operating hospital needs dependable air conditioning and humidity management alongside careful coordination with existing utilities. For this equipment package, energy recovery and use of the hospital’s building steam are key application considerations, helping connect patient-space needs with available infrastructure.
Masters Solution
Masters supplied Daikin Vision air handling units with integral enthalpy heat-recovery wheels, MAS custom air-handler modifications, DriSteem MP steam dispersion grids using building steam and a Güntner fluid cooler. The recovery wheels help reduce outdoor-air conditioning loads, while the DriSteem grids deliver humidification from the existing steam source. MAS modifications adapt the air handlers to project requirements, and the fluid cooler provides heat rejection. Together, the package addresses ventilation, humidity and cooling-system needs for the inpatient addition.
