Project Overview
Mayo Clinic Health System’s La Crosse hospital brings inpatient care, surgical services, intensive care and a Family Birth Center into a flexible facility. Its mechanical design uses a geothermal central plant for heating, cooling and reheat, connecting patient-care needs with an energy-conscious campus strategy.
The Challenge
The hospital needed dependable environmental control across diverse clinical spaces while integrating new systems with campus utilities. The engineer’s design combines geothermal heating and cooling with recovery of heat from electrical and IT rooms, making coordination of airside loads and central-plant operation important to the overall energy approach.
Masters Solution
Masters supplied Haakon custom air handling units and DriSteem humidifiers. The air handlers address ventilation and conditioned-air delivery, and the humidifiers address moisture control in patient-care environments. The emphasis is on dependable indoor conditions and equipment suited to the clinical application, with energy performance considered as part of the complete building system.
